Use the precompiled 32bit debian package from http://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html and the multiarch-support package from the repositories. it works fine on me. It was very easy to install in Linux 12.04. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GoogleEarth I did what it said and it fixed it.
